Jeremy M. Forsyth
Associate Attorney
Overview
Jeremy Forsyth is a member of Lynberg & Watkins’ Public Entity Defense team, where his practice focuses on civil rights litigation, general tort defense, professional liability, and employment practices liability. He is experienced in all phases of litigation, including case evaluation, discovery, dispositive motion practice, trial, settlement negotiations, and appellate work. Mr. Forsyth is committed to delivering strategic, results-driven advocacy while maintaining the highest standards of client service.
Mr. Forsyth joined Lynberg & Watkins in 2025 following more than a decade of experience in criminal defense, where he represented individuals facing serious misdemeanor and felony charges in both state and federal courts throughout California. His background as a trial attorney in high-stakes criminal matters has honed his courtroom presence and deepened his understanding of complex litigation strategy.
Admitted to practice in California in 2011, Mr. Forsyth began his legal career as a panel attorney with the Alameda County Court Appointed Attorney Program (CAAP), representing indigent clients in conflict cases. He quickly gained first-chair trial experience, handling a full caseload of misdemeanor matters and privately retained cases throughout the Bay Area.
From 2019 to 2025, Mr. Forsyth practiced with several prominent criminal defense firms, where he was entrusted with the defense of serious criminal cases, including trials with significant collateral consequences for his clients.
A pivotal moment that sparked Mr. Forsyth’s transition to public entity defense came in 2025, when he successfully secured an acquittal for an off-duty law enforcement officer charged with domestic battery and false imprisonment. Facing the potential loss of a career in law enforcement, the client was fully exonerated after Mr. Forsyth persuaded the jury that his actions were taken in self-defense. This case underscored Mr. Forsyth’s appreciation for the challenges faced by public employees and solidified his desire to represent governmental entities in complex civil litigation.
In his spare time and when he’s not practicing law, Jeremy likes cooking, mountain biking, tennis, and foreign language.
