Overview
Deann Rivard was a Los Angeles Police Officer for close to a decade before she began her litigation work as a trial attorney with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. During her tenure as a prosecutor, she litigated cases involving domestic violence, sex crimes, child sexual and physical abuse, gang crimes, narcotics, and violent felonies including multiple murders. Her experience resulted in her assignment to the Justice System Integrity Division, where she responded to officer-involved shooting and in-custody death scenes, and reviewed criminal filing submissions against judges, attorneys and law enforcement officers.
As a civil litigator, she utilizes her police and prosecutor experience in her civil work, and has litigated a wide range of high-exposure civil matters in both state and federal courts. Her practice includes the defense of individuals, corporate entities and public entities in cases involving use of force causing injury/death, claims of wrongful conviction, and claims of sexual abuse while in custody.
Throughout her career, Deann has worked closely with her clients toward aggressive litigation strategies that maximize their chances for success. She makes her clients’ priorities her own and has a proven track record of securing the very best results for her clients – whether through settlement, mediation, or trial.
Born and raised in Southern California, Deann enjoys walking her dogs, exploring the mountains either hiking or in off-road vehicles, bird watching, reading, crossword puzzles, spending time with her family, and snowboarding.
