🏛️ Lynberg & Watkins is proud to celebrate another successful outcome for the County of Orange, in which at the commencement of trial Plaintiff’s entire case was dismissed, with prejudice.

L&W’s litigation team, led by Craig Smith and Ryane Skinner, mounted a vigorous defense against Plaintiff’s allegations that Orange County Sheriff’s Department deputies recovered and failed to return eight 100-ounce silver bars following the arrest of his son for burglary. Through extensive discovery, thorough analysis of plaintiff’s claims, and close collaboration with key OCSD personnel, the team developed a compelling factual record establishing that the Sheriff’s Department never possessed the property at issue and that the plaintiff lacked evidence to support his allegations.

In preparation for trial, Craig Smith and Ryane Skinner submitted a compelling Trial Brief and persuasive Motions in Limine that underscored the lack of evidence supporting Plaintiff’s claims. The defense they developed proved so compelling that, as trial commenced, Plaintiff conceded he had no proof that any County of Orange employee had ever possessed the silver bars and agreed to dismiss all claims with prejudice, bringing the litigation to a complete and final resolution.

Congratulations to Craig, Ryane, and the entire team on this outstanding result! 👏
