• A rigorous pleading standard for Monell claims, ensuring plaintiffs must allege specific facts before imposing the significant burden and expense of municipal discovery.
• The broad protections afforded to public entities under California Government Code § 844.6, reaffirming immunity from most state law claims arising from alleged injuries to prisoners, subject only to limited statutory exceptions.
This decision also builds upon prior published victories secured by our team, including Rodarte v. County of Orange and Estate of Luna v. Orange County Sheriff’s Department, further strengthening favorable precedent within the Central District of California.
